Pilates

Maria Fantini

Maria has been teaching Pilates for 5 years, having qualified with the PILATES Foundation® UK in 2006, whose teacher training programme is one of the most rigorous in the UK.

Since qualifying Maria has had the great privilege of experiencing first hand, the tutoring of Ron Fletcher and Lolita San Miguel, two of the remaining Pilates “elders” or “original teachers” who were mentored and trained by Joseph Pilates himself, and subsequently received his blessing to teach the method.

Matwork Classes
Pilates Matwork classes are a great way of exercising in a group environment in a non-competitive way. Classes last an hour and will progressively advance. Matwork is the term given to non-equipment based Pilates.

Studio Classes
Maria’s studio contains equipment from the world leading manufacturer “Balanced Body” in California, and includes the Reformer, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector and Small Barrel. Classes last an hour and a half and are designed to suit the individual, with each person having his or her own programme which is constantly monitored and updated. The Studio equipment provides you with the opportunity to work specifically on areas of the body that require more attention or to help rehabilitate and injury.

The equipment further provides the flexibility of exercising safely whilst either lying down, sitting or standing to accommodate those conditions which can make moving around more
challenging, e.g. osteoporosis, arthritis.

You will work as an individual although there may up to 3 people in the studio at any one time. Classes are booked on an appointment system and must be booked in advance with Maria
